The My Pacer study is an NIH-sponsored research initiative conducted by the University of Pittsburgh, aimed at gaining insights into myositis from the perspectives and daily experiences of patients. This study seeks to engage a diverse range of myositis patients across the United States through the use of telemedicine, effectively addressing geographic barriers and enabling participation in clinical research from the comfort of one’s home.
Utilizing a mobile application, participants will complete various questionnaires and surveys, undergo straightforward tests, and utilize Fitbit activity tracking to monitor their myositis symptoms and experiences. Medical professionals will evaluate participants through secure telemedicine platforms, including audio-video chat sessions.
The My Pacer study is designed to advance myositis research and contribute to the development of more effective clinical trials. It is hoped that the findings from this study will significantly benefit myositis patients in the future.
Adult patients residing in the U.S. with diagnoses of polymyositis, dermatomyositis, or necrotizing myopathy are eligible to participate. Participation can be completed remotely, utilizing either the My Pacer study app or website. Currently, the study is available exclusively in English.
This observational study does not require clinic visits or the administration of experimental drugs. All procedures associated with this study have been reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Pittsburgh. Participants' coded data will be securely stored in a database managed by the University of Pittsburgh.
